Voronoi As Art where art and data science overlap

A Voronoi diagram can  have aesthetic appeal.  The diagrams can be interesting  and perhaps beautiful unto themselves.  They don't require a deep mathematical knowledge to be appreciated.  My artist daughter says, "often with art there is nothing to figure out."  This is a difficult concept for many people with a quantitative background.

Voronoi diagrams have distinct boundaries that separate one cluster from the next. The clusters are called regions or cells and are separated by distinct lines.  The centroid is the little black dot. Any point inside of a specific cell is closer to its centroid than the centroid of another cell.  The next page contains a graphic with an explanation of how distances are calculated.
